SCHUMPETER PRIZE 2019 AWARDED TO GEORGE SOROS

On the 21st of June 2019 at 6.00 p.m., the ceremonial award ceremony of the Schumpeter Prize 2019 by Governor Prof. Dr. Ewald Nowotny, President of the Schumpeter Society, to George Soros took place at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB, Kassensaal). The international Schumpeter Prize is awarded for innovative achievements in the fields of economics, politics and economic sciences. George Soros received the prize for his commitment to freedom and the promotion of science at that time.
This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ewald Nowotny on the topic: "European Integration under Threat from Illiberal Democracies?" with Michael Ignatieff (Rector of CEU), Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger (Rector WU), Karl Aiginger (Schumpeter Society).
